filing a brand trademark: name, logo, name + logo?
lets say my brand name is “meow chow” . logo is a cat.
when filing, do i file a name “meow chow” and the “cat logo”? or is it 3 filings of name, cat logo, and name + cat logo stacked together?
how about filing for color or font? required? because i want “meow chow” to be any font any color
filing a brand trademark: name, logo, name + logo?
You must file a different trademark application for each shade that you want your logo to be in – so 10 million-ish different applications for each shade in the color wheel.
Just kidding! You’ll be fine with just the name and logo trademarks in black – no need for them to be stacked together.
I filed a word mark for my company name first. Once that was accepted, I filed a black and white version of my logo as a second application. Lastly I filed another word mark with my slogan. Essentially if you want to protect your name in any form within a similar use, you will file a word mark. If you just file the graphics/logo, you will have protection from infringement of the logo but not the contained words.
