How to clean this old metal piece on my hat and make it shiny?

1. Polish it

   Maybe using nevr dull

   It looks more like paint tho

2. Looks like thin brass plating that’s corroded away. It won’t come back. Maybe paint.

3. Crumple up a ball of tin foil, dip it in water and use it to rub the corrosion off.
