Cold Email Asking If I Want To Sell My Business

Last week I was emailed by someone who works for a local big city brokerage asking if I was thinking about selling my business. He mentions if a business isn’t ready to sell, it is often sold at a huge discount. Then he says he wants to show me the value of my business as well as strategies for increasing its value. They have completed over $2b in transactions and have been in business for over 25 years.

I agreed to do a call later this week but I am not really prepared for it. To be honest, I am not actively trying to sell my business. However, I would like to get a fair assessment to understand the value of the company.

People who have had this kind of phone conversation, what do you recommend that I have ready before the call? Is there anything I should be aware of? Any info I shouldn’t share in the first call? Warnings?
