I Was Glad To Find A Fantastic Website Where I Can Discuss Current Affairs

I am fascinated by current affairs and seek out information not only about what is going on in the political world, but I like to engage my friends and coworkers in friendly debates whenever I get the opportunity. For the most part, this is very rewarding, but after a while, there are only so many ways to discuss an issue and I begin to look for other venues for discussion and illumination.

Sadly, this is very rare as for the most part, the debates I find are either very one sided or filled with profanities and gratuitous slams on the personal character of the debaters. It seems that in this political climate, no one will acknowledge that anyone with an opposing viewpoint could have any valid points, and they simply try to vilify the other side.

I really wanted something better in terms of discussing current affairs, and the good news is that after wading through so many harsh and contentious websites on the Internet, I found a website that was different. This website provided a place where people can write out an article articulating their opinion on a subject and post it on the website, and then they wait for someone else to write a counter argument.

It was an elegantly designed website that gave people the chance to debate online about their favorite issues and events before voting on which argument was better. People could leave comments about the various articles, but this was an option only for those who had previously created an account and a username, a move that kept the awful Internet trolls from saying mean things under the guise of anonymity. This means that the debate, while often filled with passion, is not about who is the worst person in the world, rather, it allows people to read both sides of an argument before making a choice.

Since I first encountered the website, I have actually written several of my own articles and as a part of this process, I feel like my arguments are sound, but I also feel like I have increased my ability to understand where other people are coming from and why they feel the way they do. There is nothing more pleasing to me than a well thought out, well argued debate, and while I used to just have these with a few friends and members of my family, now I can have a good debate with reasonable, rational people all over the place and in so doing, improve the quality of debate over the various political issues that threaten to divide us all.
