For centuries, people have enjoyed sweet treats in the form of candy. Jolly Rancher candies, Hot Tamales, Fizzies, Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy, candy necklaces just to mention some were beloved treats during the 1950s. Now & Later, Swedish Fish, Astro Pops, Starburst, Twizzlers, and Good & Fruity candies were also brought out during the 1960s.
Onto the 1970s for a number of other delectable candies. Things like Big Red Gum, Blow Pops, Gobstoppers, Hershey’s Special Dark Bar, and Jelly Belly brand jelly beans with their unique flavors came along. Additionally, candies such as Reese’s Pieces, Pop Rocks, Laffy Taffy, and Lik-M-Aid Fun Dip powder were available during this time.
The 1980s brought in such candy as Airheads a tangy chewy candy with a taffy-like consistency. A divided bar of caramel-filled milk chocolate called Caramello started its popularity in the eighties. Nerds, Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, Gummi Bears, and Smarties are some more of the popular candies from the 1980s.
