Ladies Football In Bobruisk In Belarus

The Northern Ireland ladies team played England in May 2007 in Gillingham, Kent. They lost 4-0 and played with passion and pride against full-time professionals. The fans sang loudly in defeat. So when Shaun Schofield (Author and full-time genius) mentioned going to another away game, it all fell into place. I was going to Belarus! I had exchanged emails with a few of the team and staff before arriving, and when I arrived at the Tourist Hotel in Bobruisk, the team welcomed me as the only Northern Ireland fan at the match! I got to hang out and dine with the squad and staff, and was also given free transport to the stadium, hotel and airport.

North Korea beat Hong Kong to Remain Unofficial Football World Champions!

Recently in Hong Kong the unique chance to watch my first ever football ‘World Cup Final’ came up! With a difference of course… Basically as an alternative to the normal and four yearly World Cup, there is an Unofficial Football World Championship which happens on an ongoing basis. It runs on a simple system – similar to Boxing – if you beat the current champion you become the winner! It dates back to the first ever international between England and Scotland in 1872. England won that match and they would remain Unofficial Football World Champions until they were beaten. Over the years, there is a league table (Scotland currently lead). You get 1 point for a win when you play a World Champions Match and zero for a draw.

South American Vs European Football

Football is said to have originated in Europe but appears like the South Americans took it by the scuff of the neck and created something extraordinary with it. Uruguay in South America staged the first world cup; an event they also triumphed in 1930. As the game became more popular, the number of teams increased and they started to play a lot better. Today, the battle of supremacy on the field has not gone beyond the drawn swords of South America and Europe.
