Going Back To College After Dropping Out

It seems that everyone has had a need to meet with a nurse at one time or another, and through these experiences of nursing, we are able to see the importance a good nurse can have in a time of trouble. Experiences with bad nurses especially can taint the view of a patient towards hospitals, and the health care system in general. An experience with a nurse who is inefficient, does their job poorly, and dehumanizes patients can make an individual rightly fear nurses in their future. The negative impact of a poor nurse is huge and can have serious and lasting effects on the patients he or she may treat.

You will need to acquire your old high school and college transcripts in order to apply to your chosen college. Once you have chosen your college, applied, and been accepted you will need to find an academic advisor. Your advisor can help you figure out which of your previous college credits. Decide whether you want to go to school part-time or full-time. If you have been out of the game for a while, you haven’t been to school in a long time, you may want to start by going part-time to see how you can handle the course work. Once you have gotten into school you may want to come up with some goals in order to be successful.

One of the major setbacks is restrictions from government or not enough protection of ideas given by the government. We all know that governing a large body of people is not easy task and comes with a lot trial and error. Another major inhibiter is the institutional road blocks placed in front of all of us when we enter the school system. There are so many pushes to teach children to conform and to be disciplined. In some ways we stifle creativity by telling kids that this is the right way and there is only one to make things work. At the same time there those who fight the system with their creativity and become an anomaly. There are other things that stifle creativity, from organizations hammering down the “nail that stands out” to people being promoted for being just like their boss.

If you are going back to college you are most likely a little more experienced with managing your time and staying organized, however you are probably much more busy than you were as a simple college freshman. This means it may be more difficult for you to balance your work life, school life, family life, and social life. If you are worried about staying organized use technology to help or simply write down all of your assignments in one place. If you are worried about being able to manage your time, start with a smaller load of classes until you become familiar with your own schedule and abilities.

As a nurse, you will have the opportunity to change people’s lives for the better and to make a lasting impression on everyone you work with.
